A small lid is a big deal: an eco–project has been launched in Kostanay region

The Taza Kazakhstan program, initiated by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is being implemented in Kostanay region. A number of projects aimed at eco-education and cleaning of territories are being implemented there. The idea of this project belongs to Dinara Shadrina, who has been sorting garbage in her family for a long time. The collected plastic caps are recycled, and the proceeds are sent to the treatment of seriously ill children within the framework of the Qoskomek project, of which she is the head. The collection caps were not chosen by chance, says Nauryzbek Birmagambetov, chairman of the Neco Ecological Club. This is because they are easy to assemble and generate more revenue in large quantities than other recyclables. The project is being implemented as part of the environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan Taza Kostanay", which was supported by the Department of Internal Policy of the city of Kostanay. Thanks to this, 40 containers for collecting plastic lids will be installed in all secondary schools of the city. It is worth noting that so far there are no such containers for collecting plastic lids in any city in the country. "The lids are recycled, and the proceeds go to the treatment of seriously ill children. The lids are sent for processing to Atameken 4+ LLP. They recycle them themselves and make paving slabs out of them, as well as transfer the covers to specialized factories that process second-class plastic. It is a very valuable kind of plastic for them. Considering that we deliver it almost in its pure form," Nauryzbek Birmagambetov says. By the way, the author of the project, Dinara Shadrina, collects and throws out only one bucket of garbage per month, thanks to its sorting. "During the collection of plastic caps and their delivery, assistance was provided in the treatment of three children. To be honest, I didn't expect this project to go beyond our city. Currently, the caps are being collected in 14 settlements of Kostanay region. They were also joined by the capital's Binom Lyceum school. By the end of the year, we plan to collect about 2,000 kg of plastic lids and 400 kg of aluminum cans," said Dinara Shadrina. The Neco Ecological Club Foundation plans to install such containers in all schools of Kostanay region.
